Here’s some of my new work from a recent shoot at QVC. It’s always great to work with a talented team! Great art direction, styling and model, Ashley Harder, totally nailed the expression that we were look for. Because we were shooting athletic apparel, I was able to light slightly moodier than I usually do. I use google catalogs quite often for lighting inspiration and model direction . For this one, I checked out Nike’s 2014 Style Guide as a guide. Hope that […]
Fog. I love taking pictures in fog. It diffuses the light and it gives your photos a beautiful ethereal quality. I was lucky enough to drive upon the scene on Octoraro Lake near Quarryville, PA on my way to visit family in Lancaster. Ducks, a body of water, beautiful trees, and fog….it’s a beautiful combination. The photos also looked great on the front and back of my new business card design. Hope that you enjoy them.
I love beer and photography, so a beer inspired project was right up my alley. BeerAdvocate magazine contacted me in July to photograph McKenzie Brew House brewer Ryan Michaels. Ryan has been receiving national recognition for his Belgian style beers. Most notably, his Saison Vautour, which is a three time gold medal winner at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, CO. For the BeerAdvocate story, I photographed Ryan in two McKenzie Brew House locations, Chadds Ford and Devon. […]

These photos were taken at the “The Pit” All Star game in West Philly. Point 3 basketball is the sponsor of this court and hired me to take photos of the game. There was a live hip hop show, slam dunk contest, and about 500 fans. These guys are good!
Heather starts the day off with a little light reading. She then moves right into her research (or quite possibly Facebook). Avett barges in and says, “Look at me, I’m cute! You should play with me!” So, of course, Heather plays with him. She plays so much that she makes herself sleepy. She knows that there’s only one thing to do to wake herself up…….Strike a pose! Then she says, “What else do you want from a busy tutor!” […]

So, my marketing plan hinges on taking as many pictures as possible for a couple of reasons: 1) I like taking pictures. 2) Content is king. I need to create new work for this blog, photo mailers, my website, and photo contests. 3) I want to get better. Musician portraits is one of the projects that I’m focusing on. I shot my second installment of these portraits with Ron Gallo of Toy Soldiers. I was looking for a location […]
There are perks to having a brewery in the family. One is, having a perfect place to get married (which Heather and I took full advantage of this past fall). Another would be having amazing beer at family gatherings (which Heather and I also take full advantage of at every gathering). For me as a photographer, it’s been a lot of fun shooting pictures for their marketing and press materials. For those of you that don’t know the beer world, […]

Heather and I went on our belated honeymoon in the beginning of January. We took an eleven day cruise which had seven stops throughout the Caribbean. Between the Rum Punches, the seafood and chicken (chicken on the islands is a million times better than what we have), and some intense board game play, I managed to take some photographs. I brought with me two cameras (one big and one small,) and 90% of the photo taking was with the smaller […]
These are fashion images of Vanessa Marie Caruso that I took back in the summer. Sometimes when you go through past pictures, you end up liking them for all new reasons. I re-edited and tried out some new Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop techniques. For those interested, I discovered a new photographer that I think you should check out. His name is Chris Orwig. I love his philosophy on photography and he’s a great teacher. He has some tutorials on this […]
